Observe label directions. Do not use Loxicom Oral Suspension in cats. Acute renal failure and death have been associated with the use of meloxicam in cats. As with any medication, side effects may occur. These are usually mild, but may be serious. The most common side effects reported in field studies were vomiting, soft stool/diarrhea and decreased appetite. If side effects occur, discontinue treatment immediately and consult a veterinarian. Dogs should be evaluated for pre-existing medical conditions prior to treatment and monitored during therapy. See product labeling for full product information.

 1. What is Loxicom?

Loxicom is a brand name for the drug meloxicam, which belongs to the class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is commonly prescribed by veterinarians to manage pain and inflammation in dogs and cats.

2. How does Loxicom work?

Loxicom works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are responsible for pain and inflammation in the body. By reducing these chemicals, the drug helps to alleviate pain and improve comfort in pets suffering from various inflammatory conditions.

3. Is Loxicom safe for my pet?

Loxicom is generally safe when used as directed by a veterinarian. However, it's crucial to follow the recommended dosage and duration of treatment, as well as inform your vet about any preexisting health conditions your pet may have.

4. What conditions can Loxicom treat in pets?

Loxicom is primarily used to manage pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders, osteoarthritis, and postoperative pain in dogs and cats.

5. Is Loxicom suitable for both dogs and cats?

Yes, Loxicom can be used in both dogs and cats, but the dosage and formulation may differ based on the species and weight of the pet. It is essential to use the specific product designed for the species.

6. How is Loxicom administered to pets?

Loxicom is available in different formulations, including oral liquid suspension and injectable solution. The oral liquid is usually administered directly into the mouth or mixed with food. The injectable form is administered by a veterinarian.

7. Can Loxicom be given with other medications?

Inform your veterinarian about any other medications or supplements your pet is taking to avoid potential drug interactions. Loxicom should not be combined with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids without veterinary approval.

8. Are there any side effects associated with Loxicom use?

While Loxicom is generally well-tolerated, some pets may experience side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, or changes in behavior. In rare cases, more severe adverse reactions like gastrointestinal ulcers or liver/kidney issues may occur. Contact your veterinarian promptly if you notice any concerning symptoms.

9. Can Loxicom be used for long-term treatment?

Loxicom can be used for short-term or long-term management of chronic conditions like osteoarthritis, but its use should be closely monitored by a veterinarian. Regular check-ups and blood tests may be recommended to ensure your pet's safety.

10. What should I do if my pet accidentally overdoses on Loxicom?

If you suspect your pet has ingested more Loxicom than prescribed or is showing signs of an overdose (such as vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy), seek immediate veterinary attention. An overdose of Loxicom can be dangerous and requires prompt medical intervention.

11. Can Loxicom be used in other animals like rabbits or small rodents?

Loxicom is specifically formulated for dogs and cats and should not be used in other animals without veterinary guidance. Dosages and potential side effects may vary greatly among species, so it's essential to use medications designed specifically for the particular pet.
