Horse Dewormer

Horse Dewormer Guide

Deworming your horse will grow to be an easy method application after being completed a few times.

How often should you deworm your horse?

Small cases of parasite infestations do not need to be treated, but large cases cause a bigger concern. Deworm when you confirm heavy cases of parasite infection or every one to two years for adult horses.

How do you deworm your horse?

First, find the best horse dewormer for you and your horse. Ivermectin horse dewormer has proven to be one of the most effective, but consult with a veterinarian to determine what is right for your horse.

Second, pick an appropriate time. When your horse is not stressed out from another factor, the process may be easier. Do not deworm your horse in extreme weather conditions.

For deworming with a syringe, desensitize the space and the syringe. Make them feel relaxed with you and the medicine close in his presence. Rub the syringe on your horse to get them used to the feeling of it.

Try coating the outside of the syringe with something sweet that your horse enjoys, like honey. You can try filling it with honey as well. Repeat this process until your horse appears to be comfortable, which could be a few days.

Be sure the horses mouth contains no food prior to medication.

Then insert the syringe into your horses mouth in between their teeth with the correct dosage depending on the horses age and weight. Be sure all the medication has been removed from the syringe and raise the horses head for a few seconds.

For deworming with a pellet, determine the correct dosage amounts expressed on packaging of the product of choice. Feed the pellet to your horse and ensure it is consumed, no prior removal of food or water is necessary.

Ivermectin is not recommended for human use and to treat cases of COVID-19. Please consult with your doctor for other treatment options.
